My GAME plan consists of two goals: 1. Collaborate with
students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and
resources to support student success and innovation and 2. Design or adapt
relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to
promote student learning and creativity. In order to be successful in achieving
these goals, I will need some resources. As I collaborate with different
stakeholders, I will need access to Moodle and email. On Moodle, I plan to post
more resources that my students may find valuable. Websites like www.khanacademy.org have helpful videos that
teach students a particular concept. I can find videos pertaining to my lessons
to post for students. As I try to reach my goal of designing lessons that
promote creativity and learning, I first want to consult with my colleagues.
Many of my coworkers, both in and out of my department, have great ideas that
promote creativity. As I consult with them, I hope to modify some lessons to
engage my students more.
I feel as if I have all of the information needed in order
to increase my collaboration with students, peers, parents and community
members. It is just up to me to increase this communication. In order to help
with the designing of my curriculum, I would like to access a website or a book
that has Algebra 2 specific ideas. I hope to find some good ideas or spark my
creativity to develop a lesson on my own.
I have already started to increase my communication with different
stakeholders. I have sent more emails to
parents regarding their child and upcoming due dates and tests. In addition, I have
posted more resources on my Moodle page. However, I am still working on
developing more engaging activities to spark student creativity.
Tanya, your first goal of collaborating with students, peers, parents, and community is such an important part of education; however, it can also be one of the most difficult. Many teachers find it challenging to leave the safety of their classroom and invite the outside world in. When we do this, though, we enrich the lives of our students and expand our network of resources.
ReplyDeleteIn today’s busy world it is very difficult to get parents involved in their child’s education. Not because they don’t want to, but because they are as busy with their work lives as we are with ours. Making it easier for parents to become an integral part of their child’s education is a task that we, as educators, need to undertake. I commend you for making this one of your goals.
I frequently visit an online magazine, Education Week. Their website has links to webinars they are hosting and it also has an archive of past webinars. As I was looking through their list of topics, I ran across one titled “Connecting Parents and Schools Via Social Media Initiatives.” The webinar is less than one hour but has great information. One of the free websites discussed in this webinar is Powermylearning.com. It has a math section that might help you with your second goal of designing or adapting relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.
To get to the webinar section of Education Week, go to www.edweek.org and then sign up. I believe they are having a two week free trial membership at this time. After logging in, select the discussions tab, then the webinar link. You have to scroll down a bit to get to the Connecting Parents webinar, but it is well worth it.
Linda,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the information. I definitely plan to check it out and get a free two week membership!
